🙂 Ustavili so naju policisti, naju naložili v služben avto in odpeljali na varno. 🙂
* * *
It was year 2000 and we just survived all that mess about millenium bugs. 🙂 Life was nice, but one day we decided that its time to find out if our relationship is really what we think it is. 🙂 And because a holiday in Slovenia or Croatia was not an option for me, we decided to make our first trip – wandering around Mexico for 47 days. Travel journeys like that are for sure the best way to get to know your partner in all possible ways and that was so true also in our case. The trip was exhausting and there were many complications. I still remember those extremely long journeys by local buses and those small hotel rooms that did not provide virtually any intimacy – I will never forget toilets, that were often without doors or with walls that were high only to cover you in a sitting position. 🙂 Yes, trips like this tear away any protection that you carry around in your home environment. And if you spend those few wild weeks with your new partner, a common life at home will be pure poetry. 🙂 And since we are 18 years older now, we got married, got our son Jaka and are still here together, the thing obviously works. 🙂 🙂
And what can I say about Mexico? Very interesting country full of contrasts. We have so many stories from that trip, but bellow just couple of them:
– Isla Mujeres was the place where we were relaxing after busy weeks. The island was very cute those days, even more so when our guesthouse owner presented to us his neighbor – the former football representative of our ex country -Yugoslavia. Uf, that night was long and Corona beer was running in streams. 🙂 🙂
– The best trip we did was certainly the trip to Isla Contoy. Crazy landscape, crazy diving, and unforgettable barracuda fishing nearby.
– We experienced the craziest negative experiences in the city of Uruapan and on a night bus ride on the infamous road from Puerto Escondido to Oaxaca. In Uruapan, the local “muchachos” completely demolished the neighboring room and tried to redecorate also ours 🙂 That night ride was a story for itself. The owner of the room has literally warned us not to take night bus – the route was very dangerous and there were many cases of robberies. But because the daily bus services were simply not there, it was necessary to travel at night. The journey was amazing, especially when we were stoping in the middle of nowhere and waited for – I still dont know for what. 🙂
– Coco loco – a cocktail that is served practically on all beaches in Acapulco. A mixture of vodka, wisky … served in that big green coconut. The thing is tasty and very delicious – but I dont recommend it at 10 in the morning. 🙂
– Puerto Escondido, a small town on the Pacific coast, was a real haven for waves riders. The waves were great and the sea was full of different creatures. On that beach it was the first time and the last time that I ran out of the water with local people. When we were in waist deep water, we suddenly saw a shadow of couple of meters long shark just couple of meters infront of us. 🙂
– We had the most crazy festivities in Yucatan, and among all the places the best place to party like locals do was Merida. Mexicans definitely know hot to have fun. 🙂
– How is it when you get lost in a Mexico city and you walk in a more interesting neighborhood? Well, it was not bad at all in our case. 🙂 We were stopped by police officers, that loaded us into an official car and drove to our hotel safely. 🙂
– And in the end, Mexico was also the first destination where I got first tropical disease that bothered me for years. It was interesting when I returned home and my own mother did not recognised me because I lost more than 10 kilograms. 🙁
