OK, lets begin with Oman. 14 days, 3000 kilometers, 500 liters of petrol, which costs us approx. € 120 (petrol in Oman is still cheaper than water), 12 different locations for camping and I could go on. A great destination, that is, unfortunately, changing with the speed of light. They are building new roads, new hotels on the coast… I think that Oman in this version can be seen only in maybe next two years. And because of that I am seriously thinking about visiting this new country again – I am playing with the idea of organizing 10-day photo course in Oman, true summer adventure in our winter 2013/14 – cheap and ful of incredible locations.
The first post is about the Al Hajar Mountains or our way through rocky mountains of Oman. Since our plan was really crowded and we tried to see as much as possible, we roamed the mountains in just 3 days. From Nizwa we first travel to Wadi Ghul and Oman’s highest mountain, Jebel Sham (mountain of sun). We saw summit of the mountain (3075 meters) from our camp at 2000 meters but trust me, the views from the tent were phenomenal. The reason was Wadi Nakhur, also called the Grand Canyon of Oman, which was just a few meters from our tents. Later, the path led us through the mountain passes to the most beautiful mountain village of Oman – Bilad Sayt. In between we visited the Snake Canyon and little Snake Canyon – both are a magnet for canyoning enthusiasts.
