The decision to travel to Albania was made practically just before the departure. The original plan for a new road trip around Scandinavia fell into the water due to covid rules and Albania has become the right destination for these times due to its “liberal” rules. And if before leaving we were most worried about what awaits us at the border, it quickly became clear that the fear was completely unnecessary. We had no plan in Montenegro, which officially only allowed transit at the time. But when the gentleman at the border told us that we were very welcome, we had to take advantage of a nice day and a great tour before our road trip around Albania. We traveled around Montenegro last year and you can find quite a few posts on this topic HERE. But since we still have quite a few nice places to explore, this time we focused mainly on the sea and a nice and easy sea kayaking tour to the blue cave, which lies on the peninsula opposite the town of Herceg Novi. The peninsula is probably the last slightly more uninhabited coastal part of Montenegro, offering some beautiful attractions for sea kayakers. Last year we kayaked to the submarine tunnels and the sunken ship on one side of the peninsula, and this time it was time for the other part and the fantastic, mighty blue cave. It was a great start to a road trip around Albania. 🙂
