Albanija road trip – povzetek

* * *

Another three-week road trip around Europe is behind us and this time it was time for the southern part of it – it was time for Albania. Despite the fact that I have heard quite a few good things about Albania in recent years, I still had  few prejudices and concerns, mainly because I didn’t know anything about the country. But after each day of planning and browsing for information, and especially after each day of wandering around the country, all concerns disappeared and I have to admit that Albania, with its diverse landscape, rich history and super friendly people, simply impressed me. Despite the fact that due to weather conditions and car problems we had to cancel few planned mountain tours, Albania still gave us significantly more in the end than we even wanted. In three weeks on the road we saw a good part of the country but there are still many spots we want to explore in the future. Albania has become a real tourist hit in recent years, but only some parts of the country are visited by tourists, and quite a few hidden gems are, thank God, still quite untouched. We did wild camping for a few nights, but mostly we used excellent campsites, for which we paid on average approx. 10-15 EUR for all three of us. Since all the prices except the petrol were really top notch, it was also time for exploring the culinary part of Albania. 🙂 On average, we spent 55 EUR per day for everything, which is top deal if you ask me. And despite seeing and experiencing some really fantastic things, the locals were the ones who made this trip something special. We met super friendly and helpful people practically every day. People who helped us along the way without any desire to earn money when we had vehicle problems. People with whom we had really unforgettable debates about life in Albania, its history, the things that connect us … In short, another great travel story. 😉
