Locronan, a village with some 100 inhabitants on the west side of Brittany is a typical example of how the traditional village should look like. 🙂 As soon as you arrive you see that things are free of kitsch, all buildings are like from fairytale and there are no new buildings with some crazy modern fasade. And because of that is easier to undertsand why you can find Locronan on almost all lists of top villages to visit in France. The golden age of Locronan dates back to 15 century, when the village was important due to the huge plantations of industrial hemp in the area. It was used for battle and commercial ships, but regarding the needs there was probably also a chance to buy “non industrial” (cannabis) version of a hemp. 🙂
