On every trip we find a place that is really something special. But not because it has the most beautiful sights or attractions – more important is the energy that you can feel on every corner. And something like that happened, when we were high among the clouds at an altitude of 4000 meters, visiting Ani Gompa not far from the small town of Tagong. According to couple of sentences in all travel guidebooks, Ani Gompa is a small dusty village at the end of the road, with some great Buddhist temples and great views. But we know now that Ani Gompa is much more than that. It is a place with a special energy that you can feel practically at every step. It is a place with incredibly friendly people, with whom we would gladly chat, but a language gap simply did not allow us. And a visit to the Ani Gompa monastery was certainly one of the highlights of our three-month trip around Asia. But unfortunately places like this are disappearing and it’s more and more difficult to find them. 🙁
